IES RAMÓN MENÉNDEZ PIDAL is a secondary school with compulsory secondary education, bacalaureate studies and also vocational studies, that are related to Retail and Marketing. There are around 650 students and 62 teachers. Our students have an age range of 11 to 18 years old, and in Vocational Studies, ages vary a lot, normally from 18 to 30 years old.
Our motivation for joining this project is to have a project shared by the whole school community and mainly giving our students the opportunity of getting to know different countries and cultures from ours, this always helps them to broaden their minds, a chance of speaking in English and also a chance for them to feel that they form part of a bigger community, far greater than their own region and country. It is also a wonderful platform to establish future collaboration ties with all the partners, and a very good chance of learning how other education systems work.
As this project is related to the theatre, our school has had for many years a theatre group called “Noite Bohemia” but I must say that they have two groups, one for the older children and one for the youngest.
